10 week yoga course created specifically for Equestrians —
with optional in-saddle exercises to apply your new balance and awareness in real riding situations.
Find your flow both on and off the horse with our 10-Week Yoga for Equestrians Course. This unique tailored yoga course is designed to help you to develop balance, symmetry, and softness in the saddle needed for correct riding biomechanics. Learn how to “plug in” your seat bones for true balance, rotate and relax your thighs for sensitive leg aids, and “stack” your torso for core stability and lighter, clearer communication. Each week, your yoga practice trains a specific aspect of rider biomechanics—from sitting the trot with soft power, to inside-leg to outside-rein coordination with correct pelvis alignment. The result? A body that stays centred, aids that feel intuitive, and a horse that responds with suppleness and clarity. Perfect for riders seeking that elusive “A-ha” moment—where feel, function and finesse come together in effortless partnership.
“Sit deeper.”“Soften your hands.””Inside leg to outside rein. Yoga on the mat → Balance in the saddle.
We’ve all heard these phrases in lessons… but most riders are never taught how to feel them in their own body. Without the right body awareness, the same problems keep coming back:
❌ Bouncing in sitting trot
❌ Collapsing through one side
❌ Gripping with the knees
❌ Pulling instead of flowing with the reins
The Solution – Yoga + Biomechanics for Riders
This isn’t just yoga, and it isn’t just riding.
Each week combines:
🧘♀️ Yoga practices on the mat – improve posture, alignment, breath, and body awareness.
🐎 Optional in-saddle exercises – short, practical riding tasks (beginner, intermediate, and expert) that connect your yoga work directly to your horse.
➡️ It’s the bridge between body awareness and real riding improvement.
10-Week Journey
Each week we will support you with an element, which sill support your horse riding:
Week 1: Plugging in your seat bones – hip alignment focus to be balanced in the saddle.
Week 2: Balanced seat - hip opening yoga for a neutral pelvis to avoid tipping or collapsing in the saddle and keep spine aligned.
Week 3: Core stability – yoga for strength and balanced sitting trot to find soft power.
Week 4: Inside leg to outside rein - bend and connection to create true bend.
Week 5: Half halts - rebalancing within your own body to then support the horse.
Week 6: Elastic contact – shoulder/arm opening yoga for soft rein feel in all gaits.
Week 7: Draped leg without gripping with your knees - hip rotation yoga for a deeper and connected seat.
Week 8: Rider straightness - balance focused yoga for symmetry in your riding.
Week 9: Breath-led riding – yoga breathwork for smoother transitions.
Week 10: Horse’s lifted back – back-opening yoga for transitions within gaits.
Yoga on the mat → Balance in the saddle.
10 weeks. A more balanced, centred you. A softer, happier horse.
Does your instructor keep saying ‘sit deeper’ or ‘soften your hands’ but you don’t know how?
No matter your discipline—dressage, jumping, eventing, western, or pleasure riding—your body is your primary aid.
Research shows that rider asymmetry contributes to up to 70% of performance issues and that horses mirror the rider’s posture and tension. Studies in equestrian sport science have found that riders who incorporate yoga and body awareness training experience improved balance, faster reaction times, and a reduction in riding-related injuries by up to 40%.
By working on biomechanics off the horse, we give ourselves the strength, flexibility, and stability to ride with subtlety and effectiveness.
Yoga builds core control, joint mobility, and breath awareness—skills proven to enhance straightness, reduce tension, and allow the horse’s back to lift freely.
Quite simply: what we do out of the saddle directly translates into being a better rider in the saddle. This course is designed to help you unlock that potential, giving you the body awareness and tools to ride with harmony, confidence, and influence.
